Accelerated Learner's Program

Learn Years and Decades Ahead of Convention

"What is good education? Giving systematic opportunity to the student to discover things by himself."
-Herbert Spencer

"What does a young researcher need at the beginning of a career? Perhaps, most of all, a good mentor. And freedom - freedom to experiment with ideas, freedom to try new directions, freedom to make mistakes, freedom to think without distraction."
 -John Archibald Wheeler

"Most children in school fail to develop more than a tiny part of the tremendous capacity for learning, understanding, and creating with which they were born and of which they made full use during the first two or three years of their lives. They fail because they are afraid, bored and confused..."
 -John Holt

"He is in the 9th grade and wants to be a scientist, a Theoretical Physicist to be precise," Vasudev Shyam's mother said.

"That's really nice," the Director said, turning to Vasudev. "What have you been learning?"

"I want to learn Classical Mechanics and other topics in Theoretical Physics," Vasudev replied.

In a few minutes it was clear to the Director that Vasudev really meant what he was talking about. He was aware of what Classical Mechanics, the advanced level of Newtonian Mechanics was. Thus began Vasudev's entry to the Accelerated Learner's Mentoring Program. Vasudev was launched directly onto Calculus, Classical Mechanics, Classical Theory of Fields, General Relativity, Quantum Mechanics and Quantum Field Theory and the accompanying advanced Mathematical methods of Partial Differential Equations, Tensor Calculus, Complex Function Theory, Differential Geometry and Topology.

In a year's time Vasudev mastered these and several Volumes of the famous Landau and Lifshitz, 10 Volume Course of Theoretical Physics. In his 10th grade, Vasudev was invited to give two talks at BITS, Pilani. He gave a talk on "Quantum Mechanics from a Geometric Viewpoint," to an general audience of 400 people and a technical talk to 35 of BITS Pilani Faculty on the second day. By his 11th grade he graduated to the Scientific Achiever's Mentoring Program. A few months later he had published the paper, "The Canonical Lagrangian Approach To Three-Space General Relativity," along with Madhavan Venkatesh. He was invited to a select Discussion Meeting by Prof. Julian Barbour at the "Leibniz Institute for Theoretical Physics," College Farm, London. In the same year, Vasudev was invited to represent CFRCE and give an invited talk at the "LOOPS 13 International Conference," at the "Perimeter Institute of Theoretical Physics", on his research work. It was there that Vasudev was offered admission to the Perimeters Scholars International (PSI), Program, a direct Masters Program to be followed by a Ph. D.

Today, Vasudev Shyam having completed his 12th grade in 2014, and also the PSI Program is already a student of the Ph. D Program and on his way to be mentored by Prof. Lee Smolin and others illustrious physicists.

Madhavan Venkatesh entered the Accelerated Learner's Mentoring Program in a very similar manner. His admission followed a few months after Vasudev's. He was also launched directly onto Calculus, Classical Mechanics, Classical Theory of Fields, General Relativity, Quantum Mechanics and Quantum Field Theory and the accompanying advanced Mathematical methods of Partial Differential Equations, Tensor Calculus, Complex Function Theory, Differential Geometry and Topology. And then, there was a sudden interruption in his learning.

As he entered the 11th grade, due to social pressure he was admitted into an Integrated Program for the IIT-JEE at his School. After three months, Madhavan realized that it was a big blunder. He was in the wrong program. His path was not to become just another IIT-JEE topper or even to be a rank student. His destiny was rather far greater and glorious. It was to join the ranks of the great scientists and mathematicians of the world. After all, no IIT-JEE rank could ever come near the glory of a Newton, A Gauss, an Einstein or Feynman or a Hawking. So Madhavan took a bold decision -to drop out of the Integrated program and return to CFRCE for the Scientific Achiever's Mentoring Program. Despite initial apprehension on the part of his parents, their decision and support was justified in a few months. Madhavan returned to his learning with a powerful drive that brooked no rivals. In three months time he had mastered an esoteric branch of Mathematics, -Lie Groups, Lie Algebras and Loop Groups. And the very next month he was invited to give two talks at BITS, Pilani a la Vasudev Shyam, the previous year. His achievement was applauded by the BITS faculty. In the next month Madhavan co-authored and published the research paper with Vasudev Shyam mentioned above, "The Canonical Lagrangian Approach To Three-Space General Relativity."

Two other papers followed soon after. During his 11th grade he was invited to "LOOPS 13 Conference," at the "Perimeter Institute of Theoretical Physics," to represent CFRCE and give a talk on his research work. After returning from LOOPS 13, Madhavan established contact with Mathematicians working in the field of his interest. Madhavan was offered admission to a Master's Program in Mathematics at the University of Manchester, University of Edinburgh and the University of Warwick.

Today. Madhavan, after completing his 12th grade in 2014, is on his way to the University of Warwick to continue his Masters research.

Vasudev Shyam and Madhavan Venkatesh are two of the finest students of the CFRCE Accelerated Learner's Mentoring Program. Other equally accomplished students of the Program have distinguished themselves in fields like Robotics (CFRCE Alumnus Anurag Kesari), Aerospace Engineering (CFRCE Alumni Sriharsha Sheshanarayan, Abhijith Janardhan and Arvind Shreyas), Business Entrepreneurship (CFRCE Alumnus Kiran Aspari) etc. The Accelerated Learner's Mentoring Program has now become established as the Launchpad for extraordinary achievers.

About the Program

The human brain is a complex-adaptive, bio-physiological and bio-psychological, active-processing self-organizing system. Learning is the actualization of the neuro-cognitive potential inherent in every human being. The most powerful method of learning is to heighten the awareness and attention by evoking the emotional brain. This at once activates the self-organizing faculty of the brain and makes learning a natural and spontaneous process. Over the years, CFRCE has been perfecting its methodology of learning and creativity based on these principles. Out of profound practice, research and development it has evolved a unique approach to learning that literally catapults bright young minds years ahead. The Accelerated Learner's Mentoring Program is the flagship program of CFRCE that embodies this approach.

This is a unique program that provides an opportunity for students who are exceptionally motivated and have high aptitude to take on the adventure of learning years ahead of their standard school syllabus and curriculum. Since present day students are in the post-information era they are capable of learning and handling topics more than academics presents them with. In some cases they are found to have short attention spans in the classroom and may exhibit hyper-activity. This is often due to their greater capacity to grasp more and effortlessly master challenging topics beyond their school syllabus. This program provides them the perfect avenue to pursue their exceptional creative talent.
